In contrast to the islands and summer homes in the southern part of Howe Sound, surprisingly little development has occurred to the north. Although close to urban civilization and industrialization, with the mill at Port Mellon, Anvil and Gambier Islands provide a fantastic setting for day and weekend trips. Don’t let the ease of access fool you, however, as the winds are notoriously strong in this part of Howe Sound and the shores remarkably rugged. With mountains all around and log booms dotting many of the bays, this is truly coastal paddling. Nestled among the coastal mountains, speckled with summer homes and flanked by the bright lights of Vancouver, West Vancouver and Gibsons, Howe Sound blends the beauty of the Gulf Islands with the rugged North Coast and places it all invitingly on our doorstep. It is a unique slice of West Coast life well worth exploring. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
