Sand beaches and isolated campsites dot the rugged, roadless, and mostly wilderness western shoreline of British Columbia’s Slocan Lake. The water is clear enough to see paddle shadows 20 feet deep. Trails lead from the lake to waterfalls, alpine lakes, and spongy lichen-carpeted old-growth forests. A highway and three small towns are carved out along the east shore, but the lake is just big enough for paddlers to feel remarkably alone if they hug the western shoreline and the boundary of Valhalla Provincial Park. The name Valhalla comes from the magnificent mythological hall for the bravest of slain Norse warriors. The views are inspiring from the lake. The best of the Valhalla, however, is waiting for those who hike the high-country trails to views of 9000-foot points such as Mount Dag and Gimli, Asgard, and Gladsheim peaks. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
