Hopeville Pond is a recreation destination, with camping, paddling, swimming, and hiking available. Besides paddling here, you can paddle upstream through Pachaug Pond into Glasgo Pond. Look for beaver in the evening. Expect to see great blue herons, ducks, geese, and turtles. Hopeville Pond, a widened 3-mile section of the Pachaug River, offers very pleasant, relaxing paddling. The pond winds through woodland, farmland, and areas with light cottage development between a dam at the north end close to I-395 and a section of river at the south end, connecting to other ponds farther upstream.
