Crooked Creek rises south of Harrison, Arkansas, and runs alongside AR 7, flowing through Harrison before heading east. It then parallels AR 62 until it flows into the Buffalo National River. It lives up to its name, twisting and turning constantly along its course. Crooked Creek is known more for smallmouth-bass fishing than for canoeing, but canoeists can combine fishing and paddling for a very scenic trip through the Ozarks. Paddlers can expect a mild stream protected by tree-lined banks—studded in oak, pecan, and elm—that make the stream seem secluded. Water quality is good upstream of Harrison but declines downstream from Harrison due to small amounts of pollution that enter the stream from the city.
