The Little Ocmulgee, overshadowed by its heavyweight neighbors the Oconee and main Ocmulgee Rivers, sneaks through the coastal plain terrain near the town of McRae. A small, blackwater stream, white sand banks of moderate height frame the stream’s burgundy-red water. The river meanders through a pristine miniature forest festooned with Spanish moss before transforming into a small, straightforward river. It runs southeast to a con?uence with the main Ocmulgee just before it merges with the Oconee, forming the Altamaha River.
