Visitor use is light and a permit is required. From the trail junction, it traverses east across Chase Prairie through a mixture of prairie and shrubs before arcing back to the north along a cypress forest to the overnight shelter at Round Top. In season, Chase Prairie host Blue-winged Teal (winter), Wood Ducks, Sandhill Cranes, Common Yellowthroats, alligators, and plenty of chorusing Florida Cricket Frogs. Chase Prairie is one of the oldest prairies in the Okefenokee, and this trail provides an excellent tour through it. Hazards: Peat quagmires, lightning, heat exhaustion, strong winds, airboats, and biting insects.
