The Terrapin is an excellent Class I river. Around almost every bend there is a shoal or drop, requiring rapid careening around the rocks. The banks are lined with interesting rock formations, and the foothills of the Appalachians provide a breathtaking backdrop. The trip comes to an end with a wonderful freshwater spring flowing through the ground into the river. It’s icy cold and delicious on a hot day. Terrapin Creek is one of those “secret” little rivers you find in Alabama. Secret in that not many people know about the river or what a great ride it will provide. Overall the river is 400 miles in length.
