Head out into Trout River and cross the wide part to enter the George River. This body of water is a real treat. The bottom is sandy, with very little weed growth and no seaweed. As you paddle inland, you will notice that this gracefully winding river has no houses on its banks. On your right is dense woodland. In fact, if the wind is coming from the west, you will smell the deep green aroma of the fir trees. On your left are planted fields of corn and potatoes. Most of the bank is lined with tall grass. This river is a placid delight, with flowing water that is pure and clean. Paddle up to the mouth, where you can see Route 12. This is a very special river because of its grace, quiet isolation, and weed-free water.
