This smallish pond is a delight. If you are in the area and want to relax with a sweet paddling experience, consider spending an hour or so here. I felt that this pond was a paddler’s massage after battling headwinds on the Northumberland Strait. It is bordered by some of the tallest, greenest, freshwater marsh grass I have ever seen. The water’s surface is most often placid, which makes for utterly enjoyable, effortless paddling. The pond’s great source of interest, however, comes from its sizable duck population. There are probably more ducks per square foot of water surface here than anywhere else on the Island. Duck aficionados will love the many black ducks that live here. Ducklings scurry into the high grass as their mothers come out to intercept the canoeist in hopes of diverting our attention.
