Basin Head Lake is a long, narrow inlet that stretches north parallel to the shoreline. On a calm day you could spend several hours paddling and exploring inside the barrier beach. I mention this possibility because it should be combined with a visit to the museum and beach just down the road from the launching spot. The beach is a favorite of Islanders. The sand is particularly fine. The little museum, part of Basin Head Provincial Park, has a unique collection of marine items and displays. The wooden bridge that crosses the inlet to the beach excites the craftsman in all of us. Many like to stand on the bridge and watch the falling tidal current exiting the outlet. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States. We plan to expand our topomap database in the future, however this map is not available at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
