The Stikine is an international river that rises in the Spatsizi Plateau Wilderness Provincial Park in northwest British Columbia and merges with the sea near Wrangell, Alaska, 330 miles from its source. With numerous glacial sources adding volume and speed, the Stikine, known as the Great River, is the fastest free-flowing navigable river in North America. It flows in a great arc, first north, then west, then south, carving through a rugged mountain landscape and draining 20,000 square miles through six ecosystems.
