The Skyline Trail is not on most maps and is not o?cially maintained, but it’s in good condition and generally easy to follow unless covered in ice. The trail begins behind the Palm Springs Art Museum and switchbacks up the ridge south of Chino Canyon to Long Valley near the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, gaining 8,000 feet. In Long Valley, it joins Hike 84 to the summit of San Jacinto. Most hikers descend the tramway and take a taxi or car shuttle back to the trailhead.
