Your ultimate destination is the overlook at Grace’s Gap, the far eastern end of Red Mountain Park. From here, you can see the mountain gap where the first commercial ore mining took place and look out to the city in Jones Valley that sprang up as a result of that mining and metal making. You make a gentle climb up Red Mountain and then take a level walk out on the ridge, past remnant red rocks and the ruins of mountaintop mining operations. Along the way are views of forested draws on the south side of the mountain.
