Through the gentle rolling hills just south of Santa Fe near the small village of Los Cerrillos. This gem of a ride takes you from the small, quaint village of Los Cerrillos along Galisteo Creek, past the old railroad station of Waldo, up through Waldo Canyon, and ends just before reaching Interstate 25. The town of Cerrillos was once the site of several mines that were rich in turquoise and lead deposits. Native Americans mined the area for turquoise centuries before the town was settled and continued to do so until the white miners took over in the 1800s. Los Cerrillos as a town reached its peak in the 1800s and supported twenty-one saloons and four hotels. Things have settled down since then and the town, with its old adobe church, dirt streets, quaint little adobe houses, and nice little shops, is a wonderful place to hang out after your ride. Trail surface: Dirt road.
