I found this loop on the New Mexico Touring Society’s Web site, and the Mesilla Valley sounded inviting. Once in Las Cruces, the folks at Outdoor Adventures added some details and a few good options for getting in and out of the city. For most of the 60 flat miles, you will pedal through rural farmland irrigated by the Rio Grande. To the east, the jagged Organ Mountains rise to 9,000 feet. Ride highlights include a shaded tunnel of pecan trees, a historic plaza, ruins of a nineteenth-century fort, and a state park along the Rio Grande. Terrain: Flat- the elevation changes by only a few hundred feet.
