Credit for the contribution of this loop in New Mexico’s Four Corners Region goes to David Ortiz, a local cyclist and outdoor enthusiast. This 50-mile loop, east and south of Farmington, takes you through two river valleys—the Animas and the San Juan. Most of the ride follows rural county roads through farm and ranch country, wide open spaces, high-desert mesas, and colorful badlands. Part of the route crosses into the Navajo Indian Reservation; this Indian nation is the largest in the country. Ride highlights include lush river bottoms and distant mountain views—even high peaks in Colorado. Services are limited on this rural loop.
