This ride is not technically difficult, but does require basic mountain biking skills to assure safety. If you are a beginner or are afraid of heights, do not attempt the second portion of this ride (the Flume Trail itself), where you must cycle a narrow trail, sometimes alongside a steep drop-off, for over four miles. The first portion of the ride is the climb to Marlette Lake, an elevation gain of 1,200 feet. This part is also best suited to intermediate or advanced riders.
