Head east and enjoy a modest 25-mile cruise completely devoid of serious climbing. This short tour cuts through the heart of Boulder on its very popular fully separated path, rolling out to the outlying suburbs and farm country northeast of town. Terrain: Slightly downhill on a very curvy, paved multiuse path, then flats and easy rollers on straight roads in farm country. Traffic and hazards: The Boulder Creek bike path is often clogged and is always dangerous— riding it requires special care. Expect to yield often to pedestrians and slower cyclists, including children. The roads on this route carry a lot of cars—they are minor highways— but the shoulders are generally wide and many of the road segments here have explicitly labeled bike lanes. Overall traffic intensity is moderate. Road surfaces are good.
