This is a really nice loop through the countrified suburbs of south-central Denver, utilizing the Highline Canal Trail, a meandering multiuse path (MUP). Terrain: Virtually flat in its entirety. Traffic and hazards: The road around Washington Park is rife with wandering joggers, dogs, toddlers, you name it. Franklin and Clarkson Streets are relatively quiet streets. The Highline Canal section is usually less congested than Denver’s other main MUPs, but riders should not only expect crowds of pedestrians with dogs, they should be prepared to yield to them as well. The last phase of the loop features noticeably higher traffic intensity than the rest of the ride, but nothing too harsh.
