This ride takes you on a good-sized tour of south suburban Denver, primarily on fully separated multiuse paths (MUPs). Terrain: False flats and rolling hills, generally shallow. Traffic and hazards: Jordan Road, the connector between the E-470 Trail and the Cherry Creek corridor, is quite busy and not incredibly well suited for cycling. The rest of the loop is on “bike paths,” this loop is a good ride for those hoping to avoid motor traffic. Denver is blessed with a relatively extensive network of bicycle paths. Many of these paths can be classified as “fully separated facilities,” meaning they are separated from the rest of the traffic grid.Whereas most paths must cross roads at intersections, the fully separated MUP flows under all crossings, like urban freeways. Often these paths are built alongside rivers or canals that already pass beneath the grid.
