This is an ambitious ride linking downtown Denver with downtown Colorado Springs. Almost half the mileage of this point-to-point adventure is on fully separated bicycle paths. Terrain: Rolling hills on Perry Park Road. The so-called New Santa Fe Trail is primarily flat, with some very sharp little dips and turns as it crosses Air Force Academy land. Traffic and hazards: The biggest hazard of this ride is the U.S. Highway 85 portion. The highway has a ton of traffic, and it’s somewhat narrow, without any significant shoulder in stretches south of the Louviers crossroads.
