The Barbour Forks Trail is one of the lesser-traveled trails in the Denver/Boulder region. This may be due to the variety of trails that cross its main route. For this reason, riders should always be familiar with the trail’s route and bring a map of the area. The trail supplies hillside meadows full of wildflowers, tall stands of aspen and mixed conifers, as well as—dare I say it—little in the way of other trail users. Combining four-by-four road with prime singletrack, the trail travels up the Soda Creek drainage of Idaho Springs to connect with a looped singletrack trail. While not particularly long, this trail can be enjoyed by novice and advanced riders alike. The singletrack stands out among the best in the area. Perhaps more important, after the ride is done, riders can soak their sores away in the thermal pools of the Indian Springs Resort. Terrain: Four-by-four road and singletrack that pass through dense woodland and open meadows.
