Eldorado Canyon State Park offers riders a multitudinous array of recreational opportunities. The park itself is perhaps best known for its rock climbing. Climbers from around the world, and Boulder too, find a wide array of routes along the soaring red sandstone walls of Eldorado Canyon, making for an interesting sight along your ride. Standing at 7,240 feet high, Shirt Tail Peak is the highest within the canyon. The Rattlesnake Gulch Trail follows the narrow and rocky singletrack through Rattlesnake Gulch. It's sand-and rock-filled trail offers an exceptional ride to bikers with moderate to advanced technical ability. The climb through the gulch is also a bit of a grunt as it leads to the historic Crags Hotel ruin and views of the Continental Divide at the trail’s westernmost portion. Terrain: Singletrack and dirt road that travel through Eldorado Canyon and up the steep Rattlesnake Gulch. The trail doles out much rock and sand, as it carries riders out of Eldorado Canyon.
