The Lower Dadd Gulch Trail is becoming more and more popular among mountain bikers, particularly since the trail received much-needed maintenance during the summers of 1995, 1996, and 1997. From Colorado Highway 14 to Salt Cabin Road, this trail winds through Dadd Gulch as it follows a stream through thick forests of juniper, ponderosa pine, aspen, and Douglas fir trees. The shade provided by the heavily wooded terrain of Dadd Gulch and a plentitude of creek crossings make this trail a winner of a ride during one of those savagely hot Front Range days. Upon reaching Dadd Gulch Road, riders have the option of either returning to their vehicles the way they came or continuing into Salt Cabin Park to make a loop. Terrain: Singletrack, doubletrack, and dirt road, which follows a stream in the bottom of a gulch through a heavily wooded mixed conifer forest. The terrain is mostly hard-pack singletrack, with a variety of rockier sections.
