The recently reopened Morrison Creek Trail adds yet another trail in the Buffalo Creek trail system. The Morrison Creek Trail was closed due to the Buffalo Creek fire and the destruction of the forest can still be seen. This lesser used connector trail between the heavily biked Colorado Trail and FR 543 expands one biking options and gives the rider many loop options. The ride can be done in the opposite direction which gives the rider a fun drop on Tramway Trail. However, the climb on Morrison Creek/Shinglemill is fairly sandy, loose and has plenty of gravel which makes for tough climbing in many spots. TERRAIN: Sandy and firm hardpack; occasional root or rock; forest road.
