OK, so I had to put an easy, short ride in the book. Lair O' The Bear was chosen because of its closeness to Denver and because it can be a good late season idyllic ride when other trails are snow covered. Try laps, if you need to do more than stretch your legs or checkout the new trail to Pence Park at the west end of the park. TERRAIN: Smooth hardpack. Find the Brittlefern Trail on the north side of the parking lot and begin pedaling east on the wide, gravel trail. The trail quickly crosses the entrance road to the park and then Bear Creek (0.2). Just after crossing the creek, the trail turns west becoming the Bruin Bluff Trail and begins a steady climb on the mostly rock-less trail. Two short switchbacks put you at the high point for the ride (0.9), where the trail then begins a fun, curvy descend back to the creek.
