This scenic and extremely popular route is suitable for passenger vehicles, although it is unpaved and frequently scarred by numerous potholes. The route starts in Breckenridge and joins Boreas Pass Road a short distance south of town. Windy Point, identifiable by a large rock outcropping, lies about a half mile from the turnoff onto Boreas Pass Road. The route continues past the restored Bakers Tank. Special Attractions: Travel the route of a famous old narrow-gauge railway that in its time was the highest in the United States; Narrow railway cuttings, fine views, and the sites of many old mining camps; In fall, excellent views of the changing aspens. This trail is graded dirt but suitable for a normal passenger vehicle. It usually has gentle grades, is fairly wide, and has very shallow water crossings (if any).
