This trail provides the option of a loop tour by using Los Piños Pass Trail to return from Los Piños Pass rather than proceeding through to Lake City or north toward Gunnison. It is an easy drive and could be confidently undertaken in most passenger cars, so long as the road is dry. Navigation is not difficult, and the region has the decided advantage over many other trails in this book of being uncrowded, except in hunting season. Special Attractions: Fairly easy 4WD trail through attractive countryside; Relatively light traffic; Historic old stagecoach route; Good backcountry camping; Can be combined with South-Central Trail to form a loop. High-clearance vehicles are preferred, but not necessary. This trail is dirt roads, but may have rocks, grades, water crossings, or ruts that make clearance a concern in a normal passenger vehicle. The trail is fairly wide, so that passing is possible at almost any point along the trail. Mud is not a concern under normal weather conditions.
