The Buffalo Creek Area includes a network of outstanding singletrack within an hour's drive of Denver. Most of the riding rolls through thick forests over smooth and tacky singletrack. Some sandy sections appear along the way, but they don't last long. Charred trees mark the path of a forest fire that devastated much of this area. Despite the burn scars, the Buffalo Creek Area remains a mountain biker's playground. A variety of campsites dot the region in case you want to turn your day ride into an overnighter. Terrain: Improved dirt roads, doubletrack, and singletrack. Consists of mostly smooth-running singletrack, but there are a number of sandy patches, particularly at the route's onset. Two small rocky sections along the Gashouse Gulch Trail offer a challenge.
