This loop enlists the help of three individual trails: the Aspen Trail, the Dry Creek Cutoff Trail, and the Buck Trail. Each of the three delivers its own unique contribution to the whole ride. The Aspen Trail is easy and rolls beautifully over smooth singletrack and through dense aspen. The Dry Creek Cutoff Trail offers some great technical riding on loose, rocky terrain before dropping to Dry Creek. The Buck Trail includes a moderate ride over a variety of exposed roots, as it passes through meadows and forests of ponderosa pine-offering this route's best view at mile 12.6 miles. Situated high atop the Uncompahgre Plateau, this ride is nearly never crowded. It's a solo rider's dream. Terrain: Improved dirt roads, doubletrack, and singletrack. Most of the terrain is rolling, as it snakes atop the Uncompahgre Plateau. The trail is considerably forested, with only a couple of eye-catching vistas. In general, this ride runs over hard packed singletrack featuring the occasional exposed root or rock. Portions of the Buck Trail are considerably dusty.
