Northwest of Durango above Junction Creek, this is a nice ride close to town and with a good uphill workout and a downhill that generates smiles. Be aware that the downhill section is steep and can have treacherous ruts and jumps. Tread: 1.2 miles on four-wheel-drive road; 5.2 miles on abandoned logging roads and chutes that basically qualify as singletrack. Access: From Main Avenue in Durango go west on 25th Street, which becomes Junction Creek Road (County Road 204). In 3.5 miles the road crosses a cattle guard and becomes gravel. From there it is 2.2 miles to the Log Chutes trail parking lot on the east (right) side of road.
