With the gonzo climb to the top, the view had better be worth it! It is. The Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the Wet Mountain Valley spread out below like oil on a canvas. Wildflowers and hills lined with scrub oak make for good scenery spring, summer, and fall. The aerobic and technical workouts are very intense. Plan on some walking. Located south of Canon City. Tread: 9 miles singletrack and 3.1 miles of dirt road. The uphill portion is littered with gravel and rocks and the downhill is like a steep, rock staircase. The middle is nice, though.
