While Winter Park is among the state's coldest regions, that makes the Fraser Valley, only 67 miles from Denver, a great spot for summer biking: inviting 75-degree days when the Front Range is broiling. Winter Park was one of the first ski areas to promote its trails and roads for mountain biking, creating more than 500 miles of mapped trails and 200 miles of signed trails. Many are difficult single-track trails. This one, a loop around Little/Big Vasquez Creek mapped by FATS, is not. If fact, it's a great place to try "technical" mountain biking for the first time. Surface: paved 2-lane roads, unpaved jeep roads. Things to See: views of the Fraser Valley, Rocky Mountain National Park, and the Indian Peaks wilderness.
