This is a favorite getaway road-bike for the increasingly urban denizens of Boulder. You'll pass through quiet farm- and ranchland that seems more like a remnant of quieter, more rural times as the Front Range attracts growing numbers of people seeking the good life closer to nature. Surface: 2-lane blacktop. Things to See: Quiet farmland against a mountain backdrop. A former sanitarium, the Hygiene Home, gave the town its name in the 1880s. Don’t go looking for the home; it failed as a business venture and was razed in 1926. Park at Clark’s, a country store on Seventy-fifth Street. Head north to busy, four-lane Route 66, where a wide shoulder offers some security. Heading east on 66, turn left onto Eighty-seventh Street, heading north.
