This gated service road leads a 20-mile out-and-back in the heart of the southern Everglades. This spot is known for its hordes of hungry mosquitoes and deerflies. The potholes disguised in the doubletrack coral-stone macadam serve to keep the off-road biker from speeding through alternating bands of open grasslands and cypress hammocks. Depending on the time of year, you may just want to breeze through this section. Despite its benign appearance, it can be a difficult ride. Natural conditions which may be dangerous are present, among them insects and reptiles. It’s a good place to ride with someone else.
