The nearly 15 miles of closed service roads can be doubled for a total of 30 miles out-and-back inside the 12,000 acres of this state forest, which is prime black bear country. Although the sand gets a bit loose during the drier times of the year (giving a good workout despite the lack of steep grades), and horse traffic can chew up the surface as well, this area gives another option for a long day of cycling discovery. The Seminole has a landscape similar to the rest of the river basin, with a mixture of oak and pine uplands rising imperceptibly above the palmetto prairies along Blackwater Creek and Sulphur Run.
