White Springs Trail follows doubletrack for four mils total out-and-back, but is seldom ridden without adding on the 4.5-mile bridge-to-bridge singletrack between the Suwannee River's intersections with US 41 and County Road 136. The straight, flat doubletrack service road (gated) provides a good warm-up before getting to the technical moves required on the singletrack. The grassy track has grown over to stitch the sugar sand back together again, creating a firm surface and a fast pace. The move onto the singletrack calls more on agility than strength. The thick understory clings to the sides of the trail like a cloak, wrapping riders with frond, leaf, and branch. Gatorbacks rise up in the middle of the trail and force a slower ride.
