About 8 miles west of Hartford. The ride begins with a fairly steep climb of about 400 feet. Afterward, you will cruise along a ridge, then descend gradually. Watch for occasional obstructions on the single-track trails. Also, avoid startling walkers-announce yourself when approaching from behind. There are some long, secluded trails and woods roads in this area. It might be useful to bring along the detailed map available at the administration building (see Maps). You might also want to carry a compass. To reach the ridge, head south from the parking area on a paved road. Follow the road through a gate and stay to the right in the bike lane. Continue circling to the right on the paved road, until it climbs a small hill and you see a reservoir on your left. Turn left onto a patchy asphalt road at a junction marked with a map board, and climb.
