The town of Thompson and the adjoining forest and lake of Quaddick are nestled in the far northeastern corner of Connecticut, on the border of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The ride will take you to where change comes at a measured pace. Near its end, however, close to the cemetery for those who died in the French and Indian Wars, you will see a place where change comes at a furious pace-the Thompson International Raceway, home to the Nascar Winston 300. On weekdays, you can begin the ride at the Quaddick State Park. The fee for parking for your vehicle is in effect only on weekends. Things to see: the stately town of Thompson, Quaddick State Park, Thompson International Raceway.
