Bantam Lake, the largest natural lake in Connecticut, encircled by a country road and replete with an uncrowded sandy beach, the 4,000 acres of forest in the state's largest nature center and wildlife sanctuary, the White Memorial Foundation, is a jewel of a ride! It starts from the foundation's parking lot at the end of the entrance road-a 1/2 mile-long, hard-packed dirt road off Bissell Road. Things to see: Point Folly Camp Ground, Bantam Lake, Litchfield Nature Center, Sandy Beach.
