The rolling roads of the Housatonic Valley in Connecticut's extreme Northwest corner provide the ideal setting for cycling. This route starts and ends in the town of Salisbury, only 2 hours north of-but a world away from-New York City. So pack your bags and bikes for a weekend in the southern Berkshires. Stay in one of the many local inns or B&B accommodations. Then follow these rides through the flatlands and hills surrounding the Housatonic ("Hoosie") River. Terrain: mildly rolling roads, with no major climbs. (You might want to check beforehand on local road conditions, since these rural roads are sometimes being repaired). Traffic/Safety: take care on the narrower rural roads.
