This 18-mile loop is perfect for those of you who want to combine a mountain bike ride with a canoe trip on the nearby Mulberry River. At Turner Bend, you can camp, rent your canoe and shuttle, and start your mountain tour on the Ragtown Road Ride. It's a great ride for beginners because it uses forest roads in good condition, letting inexperienced riders enjoy the Ozark Mountain scenery instead of watching the ground in front of the wheel. If you're lucky, you might spot one of the black bears found in this part of the national forest. There are plenty of good vistas along this ride, but for one of the best, a side trip is in order. When you top out of the climb to Five Corners (so named because of the five roads diverging from one point) deviate from the route shown on the map by riding east on Forest Service Road 1506. You will climb an additional mile to 2,200 feet, but your extra effort will be rewarded with views over the Mulberry River Valley that are surpassed only by those on White Rock Mountain.
