This spirited ride takes in two picturesque towns, Alachua and High Springs. Expect long views of farmland, wide shoulders, and miles of bike lanes on this popular challenge. The final 7-mile stretch beneath enormous live oaks that shade the entire road is one of the most pleasant in the state. Traffic and hazards: Traffic on the county roads is light and cyclists have worked with Alachua County to add paved shoulders and/or bike lanes to about half of the route. U.S. Highway 441 is busy, as is the intersection near the start, and pedaling through crowded small towns always requires a special wariness.
