This is a wonderful trail through some of the best natural areas in north-central Florida. It’s wooded and quiet even though it travels close to busy highways and country roads. All of the 15-plus miles are a pleasure to travel, and there are even a few hills to climb and speed down. If you take your time and visit some of the Paynes Prairie Preserve’s La Chua Trail, you’ll have an opportunity to see bison, wild horses, and sandhill cranes. Surface: Asphalt; 10 feet wide. Location: Alachua County.
