This trail is located in Golden Ears Provincial Park. The trail winds its way for 11.5 km (6.9 miles) upward along the slopes of Alouette Mountain, rarely breaking through the trees but offering a pleasant uphill roll along a high-quality fire road followed by a fast-paced downhill return route. The trail meanders its way through a forest of western red cedar, Douglas fir, and red alder with an understory of vine maple, thimbleberry, salmonberry, elder, and goatsbeard. This second growth towers over the stumps are more than a meter in diameter! In wet spots hidden beneath the second growth, skunk cabbage offers a pungent aroma, and devil's club threatens from the periphery. The trail also forms part of an outdoor laboratory for the University of British Columbia. There is a presently a study on the effects of limited thinning on the local population of northern flying squirrels. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States.
