If you're up to the challenge, this ride has few equals. It can be ridden as a 17.4-mile out-and-back, or as a 27-mile point-to-point, finishing at the town of Wilmer. Your lungs will burst as your grind your way uphill for 4,592 feet before reaching the site of the abandoned Paradise Mine. As you climb, the views seem to improve with every switchback, beginning with the open slopes of the Panorama Ski Resort and the surrounding mountains of the Purcell Range. Magic! The views expand with the climb. As you reach the summit, vistas stretch to Mount Assiniboine to the northwest and the Rockies to the east. If you’ve got the legs, this is just the ride to test them.
