This is one of those well-hidden trails that have eluded many longtime locals. At the same time, it is one of the most pleasant rides in the immediate vicinity of Banff town site. It is short - only 2.7 miles point-to-point - but packs many dramatic views along its brief stretch. The views begin as you come out on the shores of the Bow River, with the sheer face of Tunnel Mountain up to your left. Across the river the towering face of Mount Rundle dominates with Sulphur Mountain to the south. At the halfway point, the views begin to roll north toward Cascade Mountain and the Fairholme Range.
