The trail is located in the Kananaskis Valley, within Kananaskis country, approximately 1 hour west of Calgery, Alberta. This 1025-mile point-to-point or out-and-back trail begins at the north end of Barrier Lake and follows its shores for 4.4 miles. It then leaves the lake behind and parallels the Kananaskis River. For strong riders, this trail will take around on-and-a-half hours one-way to complete. Although the trail is an out-and-back, it turns into an enjoyable loop when combined with a return ride on Highway 40. In addition, it can form a challenging loop with Prairie View and Jewel Pass trails. Scenically, the trail is superb. Riding along the shores of emerald green Barrier Lake, you'll look across toward the steep slopes of Mount Baldy and south toward Mount Lorette. It is a moderate trail with a nice, wide track for the entire length. The climbs are virtually all rideable and the downhills generally smooth. currently offers topo maps from the entire United States.
