This hike traverses a special section of a restored canal towpath from the 1830s, now known as the Farmington Canal Trail. Start your walk at Lock 12 Historical Park. First visit Lock 12, the only restored lock on the entire former canal, along with the lock tender’s house. Peer inside the Lock 12 Museum. From there head southbound, passing open wetlands, thick woods, and an additional canal lock, albeit unrestored. Walk to Mount Carmel Center then backtrack, enjoying more of this transportation corridor.
