This incredible hike through red and yellow mountains journeys through lush meadows, past beautiful lakes in a glacial valley, and to the top of an ultra-prominent peak that boasts what might be the most dramatic vista in the northernmost part of California. Mount Eddy may not be a well- known mountain, but it deserves far more recognition than the scant little it gets. In terms of the region’s geography, the peak holds many important positions. It is not only the highest point in the Trinity Divide, one of the easternmost of the Klamath Mountains’ subranges, but at 9,025 feet is also the tallest peak in the entire Klamath Mountain range. Incidentally, it is also the highest summit in the coterminous forty-eight states west of I-5. Not only is it a tall peak, it is also very prominent, rising more than 5,000 feet above the three rivers that flow around its base.
